Integrating Web Content

Today's tech-savvy students use Google, YouTube, RSS feeds and other interactive web tools in their everyday life to gather information and stay informed. In addition, YouTube is now used universally as a repository for a wide range of material, and instructors and students are going to YouTube as a source of authoritative information. The ANGEL LMS makes it easy for an instructor to add rich media content to a course, thus leveraging tools students are accustomed to using, providing the more engaging and interactive experience today’s students expect, and improving the quality and relevancy of a course.

Rights
The "Mashup Nugget" in the ANGEL LMS allows instructors to insert any rich media or Web 2.0 content into their course. This allows instructors to better personalize their course environment to meet their individual teaching styles or needs. The Mashup Nugget can be configured to display a variety of content including text, YouTube videos, Picasa pictures, and Google Gadgets. As new Google Gadgets are made available, the Mashup Nugget provides a way to leverage this content and extend ANGEL LMS functionality.

HTML Editor Google Tools

The ANGEL LMS provides a "mashup" between the ANGEL LMS and two open data sources found in Google. Instructors can easily add rich-media, including YouTube videos and Picasa pictures, anywhere the HTML Editor is available. These areas include discussions, page content, and assessments. Simply clicking on the "G" button in the HTML editor initiates the search. Once found, an item can be embedded or linked to in the course.

Content Items

Just like any other content item, links to web pages can be included within a course's folder structure. Once embedded, the links functions like any other content type.

RSS Feeds

The ANGEL LMS allows instructors to add RSS feeds to both portal pages and courses. For courses, the "Course RSS Nugget" comes with a predefined list of RSS feeds. Instructors can also add their own.
