Improve Assessment

ANGEL’s innovative assessment tools allow you to create and deliver the best possible asssessments in the quickest, most efficient manner. Granular options deliver complete control over assessment workflow:

Flexible Assessment Design

Flexible assessment design options correlate assessment with instructional objectives. Access, interaction and feedback controls optimize formative assessments. Securely deliver summative assessments.

Access Controls

Easily specify who has permission to access an assessment, when the assessment appears in the course and the dates it will be available to students.  Set dates in advance and ANGEL will handle the rest.

Submission Settings

Interaction Controls

Mastery Settings for self-study allow students to drill against a set of questions until they achieve the desired proficiency level. Instructors can determine how students interact with the assessment:

  • Display all questions at once or one question at a time.
  • Present questions in sets and apply different display options to different questions sets.
  • Randomize questions and/or answers.
  • Set time limits.
  • Make submissions anonymous.

Review and Feedback

Feedback options – correct or incorrect, answer key, grader remarks, points possible, overall score and more – can be displayed after the student completes one question, a set of questions or the entire assessment.

Results Review

You decide when, for how long and how often students can review assessments.

Learning Outcomes Management

Map desired outcomes or standards to an assessment, or individual assessment questions.  Comprehensive reports identify outcomes or standards applied, as well as student performance against those standards.

Secure Browser

ANGEL’s integrated Secure Browser enables secure testing without a dedicated lab.  The browser blocks all other programs and locks the student in the testing environment. Intended for use in a proctored setting, the secure browser can easily be provided to a remote proctor allowing distance students to travel to a local setting for secure testing. An additional medium security quiz option restricts mouse and keyboard functionality by not allowing right clicking, printing, etc.

Optimized Assessment Creation

Question editors make it easy to create questions, use questions stored in a departmental Question Bank or to import questions from publisher content cartridges.

Create Questions

ANGEL supports all question types – true/false, multiple choice, multiple select, matching, fill-in-the blank, ordering, short answer, and essay. Including graphics and media files in questions is simple using ANGEL’s Inline HTML Editor.

Algorithmic Questions

ANGEL also provides powerful algorithmic questions that give instructors in quantitative disciplines the power to create randomized, formula-based questions that are automatically graded by ANGEL. ANGELs algorithmic questions include powerful variable definition, flexible rubrics allowing for multiple partial credit and unit synonym scenarios, and the ability to replace variables algorithmically in WebEQ equations. Algorithmic questions support drilling since students can practice one mathematical concept with different values and answers to develop mastery; as well as to prevent cheating since questions and answers are always randomized.

Share Questions

ANGEL’s Question Banks allow programs or departments to provide questions for widespread use. From an instructor's perspective, it’s easy to quickly search through all available banks and questions using advanced filters to limit results based on keywords, question type, difficulty, question bank or associated standard. You also have the option of subscribing to a question and automatically receiving updates to that question.  ANGEL’s Question Pool question type allows you to create individual questions which can randomly draw from question banks based on the criteria you select.

Question pool editor

Filter a Question Pool by question type and difficulty and fine tune question searches by limiting to specific question banks, question types, standards and/or objectives folders.

Formalize Keywords

ANGEL’s Keyword Manager formalizes the use of keywords in an assessment. Easily share or standardize keywords by importing or exporting a simple text file.

Import Questions

ANGEL imports question content from publisher content cartridges and other LMS vendors.  A leader in the IMS Common Cartridge initiative, ANGEL is all the first LMS to fully support the IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) 2.1 specification.
