University of Alabama in Huntsville Adopts the ANGEL Learning Management Suite to Engage Students / Provide Budget Relief

For Immediate Release - Aug. 21, 2008

Indianapolis, Ind. – Aug. 21, 2008 – ANGEL® Learning, recognized innovator of enterprise course management software and services, today announced that the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) has adopted the ANGEL Learning Management Suite (LMS) to:

  • Engage students in learning using the tools they use in their daily lives – the ANGEL LMS makes course content and a variety of collaboration tools available online for 24/7 access.
  • Ease its bottom line as well as its environmental footprint – faculty’s ability to post course resources online for students to view anytime saves printing costs, ink and paper.

“We’re not going to change how today’s students think. We have to reach them using the tools that are meaningful to them,” said Bobbi Jo Rissmann, PhD, instructional technology administrator, University of Alabama in Huntsville, of the university’s learning management system adoption. Rissmann identifies “ANGEL’s clean interface, ease of use, flexibility and value” among the reasons UAH chose to adopt the ANGEL LMS.

“The University of Alabama in Huntsville considered all aspects of how a learning management system impacts teaching and learning when evaluating LMS options,” said Christopher Clapp, president and CEO, ANGEL Learning. “They dug deeply into ANGEL’s capabilities, and their financial analysis considered not only what the system would cost, but also the value it returns. We’re pleased to welcome the University of Alabama in Huntsville to the quickly growing ANGEL community.”

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is a research intensive university serving more than 7,000 students, including 1,500 graduate students. The anchor tenant in the second largest university-related research park in the United States, UAH offers 60 degree-granting programs. Rated among Peterson’s “Top Colleges for Top Students” and one of U.S. News & World Report’s 150 best national doctoral universities, UAHuntsville’s unique combination of hands-on research with classroom instruction has earned the university numerous accolades for educational excellence.
